I LOOOOOOOVE this country!!

Munich,

Germany

"The secret to a long life is to stay busy, get plenty of exercise and don't drink too much. Then again, don't drink too little."

Hermann Smith-Johannson, 103-year-old cross-country skier

After a short trip down the Rhine, I jumped on a train to Munich . My friend Stephan lived and worked on this beautiful city and he invited me to stay with him. Stephan is a sweet man and took me to some fun leather bars, share some great local dishes and showed me around. I was impressed with the many contrasts that the city possesed in the form of architecture and culture. Beautiful churches grand and full of history, sharing the same sidewalk with brand new bold and modern buildings. Conservative people sharing the same public transportation with skinheads, so common place and rather surreal at the same time.

After a long day sightseeing, Stephan took me for a great dinner and EIGHT beer mugs like the ones you see on the picture. Hollywood out drank both of us by doing doubles. To say that my last images of Munich are a bit fuzzy, is an understatement. The sounds of polkas, laughter and the fabulous smell of food was an intoxicating experience by itself. The eight gigantic beer mugs that we each drank, only helped understand the language without having to learn it....LOL

I am not a beer drinker, but you know how the saying goes..."When in Rome..."

I figure it must apply to Munich too...

The last few moments of conciousness, I remember being in the cab with Stephan, he started screaming something in German, the cab hitting the brakes right at the top of a bridge, my door was swung open by Stephan and he pulled me out to the railing....a swirling Munich was no more than a modernistic painting full of strange colors. Stephan put his finger in my mouth and that is when I realized he was trying to gag me. After I tossed my cookies, I remember waving goodbye to my pork dinner as it rushed away down the river. Stephan said "Silly American, that oughta fix you up. You will feel much better now "I did, I passed out.
