Now, I heard my dear friend Donna talk about the town she had grown up in with much nostalgia. She often would describe the lovely streets, the winters, the people, the green, the flowers, the colors...but none of this talk ever prepared me for the magnificent place that Saugatuck turned out to be.
Enchanting is the only word that comes to mind when I think back to my visit to this little trendy Michigan town. The gay money has moved into the area, renovating many of the old farms, and original Victorian houses in the area. The downtown, once overran with bad business and shady characters, now burst with healthy business, tourism and a steady amount of tourism. Saugatuck is a must see for those with a taste for beauty, tranquility and fantastic sights. Great food, good acomodations and some very interesting places (a very special naughty party by invitation only) that may attract your out of the ordinary gay man to this area. If you are looking for Provincetown or West Hollywood, go to Provincetown or West Hollywood, Saugatuck, Michigan may bring a smile to those who like their sex non-vanilla, like me.
